There’s a saying that the only thing you’ll ever get two dog trainers to agree on is that the third trainer doesn’t know what she’s talking about. I think it is more helpful to share the things I believe about working with dogs (and why), rather than waste everyone’s time trainer-bashing while people and dogs remain frustrated and confused. I believe the best training grows out of understanding why our dogs behave the way they do. I believe respect is a two-way street. I believe in order for any animal to trust us, we need to be 100% trustworthy. I believe there are positive, proven training methods that do not require force or fear (and, in fact, preclude them).  I believe our pets can make us better human beings. I know mine have.
